Songs on a Theme of Pilgrimage
John Reschl, Baritone - Mary Kay Kapustka, Piano

This group of seven solo piano gems stands as a spiritual and psychological
living monument to this great composer. It is one of his lesser known compositions
and complete performances of this work are rare. Written at the end of his life,

it is a deep personal profile of the spiritual psyche of Liszt. Through the process
of absorbing this great work, the Performer, Mary Kay Kapustka, discovered that
this work has become a very personal expression of her inner being, serving as a
'memoire' of her life experience. The vocal songs chosen for inclusion on this disc
are based on the concept of a Pilgrimage of Universal Experience; elusive, fleeting
and ongoing. The texts compliment the emotions expressed by the solo piano.

The word, "Pilgrimage", gives rise to thoughts of an endless series of events, real or
imagined, associated with the lives of individuals or groups of people striving toward a
common destination. Justice, or lack thereof, is intertwined along the way with every
progressing pilgrimage. This unique figure of the 19th century has so much to give us in
today's world and speaks to us in such a timely manner as we all continue our personal pilgrimages in the 21st century.

This Disc is a Great Listening Experience for the Searching,
Serious Music Connoisseur.
